NSW First Home Buyer Benefits: Grants, Stamp Duty Help, and How to Qualify

If you’re buying your first home in New South Wales, you could get help through two main programs:

1. First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)

  • $10,000 for buying or building a new home or substantially renovated home

  • Max property value: $600k for new homes, or $750k combined land/build cost if constructing

  • Must live in the home for at least 6 months

2. First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme

  • Stamp duty exemption for homes up to $800k

  • Concession for homes $800k–$1m

  • Land: exemption up to $350k, concession $350k–$450k

  • Must meet standard FHOG-style eligibility

Tip: You can often combine the FHOG with the stamp duty savings for a double win.
